SMOKED BLACK TEA - HEAR ME WITH FIRE

Sale price$19.00

Smoked with wood from whisky barrels, this premium Japanese black tea, grown using regenerative, beyond-organic methods offers a smooth, rich, smokey texture with a sweet, tangy finish.

Excellent choice for those who enjoy single malt scotch. Can also be used as a base for cocktails, marinades.

“Hear Me with Fire” is a bold Japanese kocha (black tea) slowly smoked over repurposed whiskey barrels, imparting a deep, resonant character that is both powerful and contemplative. The leaves yield a dark amber infusion layered with notes of warm oak, gentle smoke, toasted grain, and faint sweetness reminiscent of caramelized wood and distant hearth fires.

This tea draws inspiration from the dramatic encounter of Elijah on Mount Carmel, recorded in the story of the First Book of Kings. In that moment of trial and prayer, Elijah calls upon the Lord with the words: “Answer me, O Lord, answer me, that this people may know…”—and Heaven responds with fire. The descending flame becomes a sign of divine presence, purifying and unmistakable.

The smoky depth of this whiskey-barrel tea evokes that imagery of altar fire and rising incense. Its aroma carries the suggestion of wood, flame, and prayer offered upward; earth meeting heaven through heat and transformation. Just as Elijah’s offering was consumed and revealed by fire, the tea leaves themselves are transformed through smoke and careful craft, emerging richer and more complex.

“Hear Me with Fire” is a tea for slow brewing and quiet reflection. Its bold flavor warms the senses, while its story calls to mind courage, faith, and the mystery of divine response.

Drink the rising smoke. And remember the fire that answers.
